Procedure
There are three/four stages in the life of a project.
Stage 1: Design
Consultations to ascertain a client’s requirements and to undertake a thorough site evaluation. This is followed by the production of sketch designs, preliminary designs and final design, each one being approved by the client.
Stage 2: Working Drawings & Specifications
The number and type of drawings required for a project varies according to its size and complexity. Also who will be undertaking the actual work – the client or a contractor. These cover the ground works, the construction, the planting and sometimes maintenance. Contract documents are prepared if the project is put out to tender.
Stage 3: Implementation
This covers the management of the project on behalf of the client from organising the contract with the contractor and inspecting the work during the period of time allocated to dealing with all financial and administrative matters.
Stage 4: Management
All projects need to be inspected to ensure that they are being maintained in a satisfactory manner and in some cases it is just a consultation with the client or the contractor while on other occasions more time will be required to be spent dealing with specific methods of maintenance such as in the establishment of a wild flower meadow.
